Resistencia, Argentina hosts 2026 International Sculpture Biennial

The International Sculpture Biennial 2026 will take place in Resistencia, Argentina from 17 to 26 July at the Domo del Centenario. The ten‑day free event features an international competition in which artists from Argentina, Belarus, Bulgaria, Chile, Spain, Italy, Poland, Turkey, Ukraine and Uzbekistan create original marble‑travertine and stainless‑steel works live before the public. After the contest, the sculptures remain on display for 60 days before being installed in various public spaces around the city, expanding Resistencia’s reputation as the “City of Sculptures.”

The Biennial’s programme also includes concerts, ballet, theater, folk performances, a gastronomy fair and activities for families. On 24 July, artist Lucy Mattos will inaugurate her donated aluminium sculpture “Síntesis de amor” in the Parque Intercultural “2 de Febrero,” adding a prominent contemporary work to the city’s public art collection.
