Resistencia authorities intervene at Villa Prosperidad lagoon to prevent flooding
Authorities in Resistencia, Argentina, conducted an intervention at the Villa Prosperidad lagoon to prevent urban flooding. The operation, involving the Provincial Water Administration (APA), the Municipality of Resistencia, and the Chaco Police, targeted an area where unauthorized filling and construction foundations were being placed.
During the action at the intersection of Portela and Don Bosco streets, officials removed deposited fill material and demolished the foundations of a house in its early stages of construction. The APA emphasized that urban lagoons are essential natural reservoirs that facilitate water drainage during rainy periods and cannot be replaced by artificial structures. Officials warned that occupying these spaces reduces the city's hydrological capacity to manage runoff.
