Resolute Mining cuts Syama gold mine production guidance
Resolute Mining has reduced its 2026 production guidance for the Syama gold mine in Mali due to operational constraints and supply disruptions. The company now expects the mine to produce between 150,000 and 160,000 ounces of gold, a significant decrease from the previous forecast of 195,000 to 210,000 ounces.
CEO Chris Eger cited a “challenging operating environment in Mali” as the primary cause. Specific issues include delays in delivering critical supplies, consumables, and mining equipment, which heavily impacted production during July and August. Additionally, underground mining faced intermittent explosives shortages during the wet season, and slow progress in open-pit mining has delayed access to higher-grade ore.
As a result of the Syama setbacks, Resolute has also lowered its total group production guidance to 205,000–225,000 ounces. To address these challenges, the company plans to construct an emulsion plant, expand its mining fleet, and utilize a new mining partner to accelerate productivity. While Syama faces declines, production at the Mako mine in Senegal remains on track, and construction of the Doropo project in Côte d’Ivoire is proceeding as scheduled.
