Respawn reports 265,550 cheating attempts blocked by EA Javelin in first week
Respawn Entertainment has released the first round of results following the implementation of the EA Javelin Anti-Cheat system in Apex Legends. During its first week of operation, the system prevented 265,550 cheating attempts and disrupted 91% of the 40 cheat programs it tracked.
While the number of prevented attempts is high, the developer reported 12,969 account bans. Respawn clarified that the discrepancy exists because the system is designed to stop unauthorized software from functioning before it can affect active gameplay, meaning many successful preventions do not require an account ban.
The enforcement also targeted third-party hardware used for cheating. Reported bans linked to specific hardware include 4,058 for Aimzenix, 1,201 for Cronus, 199 for XIM, and 141 for Titan. Respawn stated that these actions are taken based on evidence to distinguish between cheating and legitimate hardware use.
In response to recent videos circulating online showing blatant cheating in Ranked play, Respawn confirmed that investigations are underway. The developer also noted that updates for console players are expected in the coming weeks.
