Flu activity rises in Croatia and Montenegro as vaccination begins

Influenza cases are being reported across Croatia and Montenegro as the new epidemiological season progresses. In Croatia, the Croatian Institute of Public Health (HZJZ) has recorded 201 reported cases, with the highest infection rates observed among preschool children. Laboratory analyses have sporadically confirmed the presence of Influenza Type A. Vaccination in Croatia is expected to begin in early November following vaccine deliveries.

In Montenegro, the Institute of Public Health (IJZ) has confirmed the first two cases of the 2026/2027 season, both involving Influenza Type A in Podgorica. To combat the spread, seasonal vaccination is scheduled to begin on Monday, October 26, 2026, at health centers nationwide. Health officials recommend vaccination for high-risk groups, including individuals over 65, pregnant women, healthcare workers, and those with chronic illnesses.

Both countries have implemented enhanced epidemiological surveillance to monitor respiratory infections, including SARS-CoV-2 and RSV, to ensure timely preventive responses.
