Responsible Gambling Council expands harm prevention to 40 Ontario campuses

The Responsible Gambling Council (RGC) and iGaming Ontario have expanded a gambling harm prevention initiative to 40 publicly funded college and university campuses across Ontario. Funded by the Ontario Ministry of Health, the program aims to reach approximately 10,000 students through peer-led education and interactive programming during the current academic year.

The initiative targets the 18-24 age demographic, noting that roughly 70 percent of individuals in this age group attend college. Trained peer ambassadors will distribute 10,000 Student Education Kits containing digital tools and resources to help students identify risk factors and manage gambling habits.

A key component of the outreach is ‘The Random Tower,’ an interactive display modeled after a block-stacking game. The installation uses wooden blocks printed with safety messages and risk prompts to demonstrate how sports outcomes depend on unpredictable variables rather than individual control.
