Restaurant fires in Mexico and Venezuela cause evacuations
Two separate restaurant fires occurred recently in Mexico and Venezuela, both linked to kitchen equipment and grease accumulation.
In Boca del Río, Mexico, a small fire broke out in the kitchen of Harbor’s Rawbar & Steakhouse at Plaza Andamar. The incident, which occurred around 17:00, was caused by a grill overheating and igniting accumulated grease. Restaurant staff successfully used internal safety protocols to control the flames before firefighters arrived. No injuries were reported, and the evacuation was limited to the restaurant area.
In Caracas, Venezuela, a fire broke out at the Casa Asia Chinese restaurant in the Sabana Grande district. Authorities reported that a short circuit, combined with grease buildup in the air extraction system, triggered the blaze. Firefighters evacuated approximately 20 people from a nearby residential building as a precaution. Restaurant employees managed to disconnect the electricity upon detecting smoke, helping to mitigate the emergency.
