Restaurant staff in Turkey save man from choking
A man was rescued from choking after a piece of food blocked his airway while eating at a restaurant in Turkey. The incident, which was captured on security cameras, involved staff and owners using the Heimlich maneuver to save the customer.
In one account from Ünye, Ordu province, employee Hüseyin Odabaşı initially attempted to help but called upon colleague Hakan Uysal to perform the maneuver after realizing the severity of the situation. In another report from the Reyhanlı district of Hatay, restaurant owner Sami Sakin successfully cleared the man's airway after three or four attempts. Sakin noted that he had learned the technique during his school years and acted immediately after hearing a cry for help from a family dining at the establishment.
