Resuscitation training initiatives launched in the Netherlands
Various organizations in the Netherlands are hosting resuscitation training sessions to improve public response to cardiac arrests.
On October 15, 2026, the Albert Schweitzer hospital in Dordrecht and Zwijndrecht will offer hands-on CPR practice sessions led by nurses and trainers. These sessions aim to help bystanders gain the confidence and physical understanding of the force required for chest compressions. The Dordrecht location will also feature demonstrations on pediatric resuscitation and include participation from ambulance services.
Additionally, Golfclub Almeerderhout is organizing specialized training sessions in November. The club offers both full resuscitation courses and refresher courses in small groups of up to eight participants to ensure personalized instruction. These initiatives highlight the importance of immediate bystander intervention, noting that in the Netherlands, approximately 16,000 people suffer cardiac arrests outside of hospitals annually, and bystanders initiate resuscitation in about 79% of those cases.
