Resuscitation training project teaches children life-saving skills
The ‘Reanimatie op school’ project is teaching children life-saving resuscitation techniques through certified instructors. Students are encouraged to bring this knowledge home to their families.
Data from the project indicates a significant gap in resuscitation training among adults. In Flanders, 34.8 percent of parents and grandparents have never undergone training, while 30.5 percent were trained more than ten years ago. Similar trends were observed in Limburg and Sint-Truiden.
At the De Letterfant primary school in Gelinden, the initiative aims to equip young people with essential skills that can save lives. Ludwig Vandenhove noted that while previous efforts focused on installing Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs), this program builds on that foundation by educating the next generation.
