Retail expansion grows in Guatemala and Nuevo Laredo

McDonald’s has expanded its presence in Guatemala to 126 locations following the opening of two new restaurants in Chitatul, Quiché, and Villa Nueva. The company also remodeled key locations in Guatemala City and Cayalá to improve service speed and customer experience through digital ordering and enhanced drive-thru capabilities. This expansion is expected to create over 119 formal jobs, primarily for young workers, and includes environmental initiatives such as solar panel installation.

In Nuevo Laredo, Mexico, the Secretariat of Economic Development reported a surge in commercial investment and job creation. New business openings are occurring at a rate of approximately one per day. Upcoming expansions include new branches for KFC and Carl’s Jr., as well as record-breaking growth from Oxxo and the arrival of Mi Tiendita del Ahorro. Local officials attribute this economic dynamism to consistent consumer demand in the border region.
