Retail theft and robbery incidents reported in France
Two separate criminal incidents involving retail theft and robbery have been reported in France.
In Compiègne, Loïc Lefèvre, manager of the geek culture boutique L’Antre de Mondes and president of the Compiègne merchants' association, has reported a significant increase in shoplifting. Lefèvre stated that the store has suffered losses amounting to thousands of euros, impacting the income of his five-person team. In response to the recurring thefts, the shop has installed video surveillance.
In Valence, the Diamantor jewelry store was the target of a violent nighttime robbery on the night of October 21-22. According to CEO Stéphane Rigal, five heavily armed and well-equipped individuals used three vehicles to force an emergency exit and target display cases. While the intruders managed to break into 10 armored vitrines, the store's security measures prevented them from accessing the majority of the inventory or client items held for after-sales service.
