Retailers and banks announce August schedules and discounts

Retailers and financial institutions are implementing various service and discount schedules for August 2026. In Argentina, Banco Provincia’s digital wallet, Cuenta DNI, is offering significant savings for families. Promotions include up to 30% off on toys and clothing for Children’s Day, as well as specific weekly discounts at major supermarkets like Día, Carrefour, ChangoMás, and COTO. Notably, some of these supermarket promotions feature no reimbursement cap.

In Spain, supermarket operations are adjusting for the August holiday season and the Assumption of Mary on August 15. Mercadona has confirmed that 320 of its stores will remain open on Sundays throughout August, particularly in high-tourism areas. For the August 15 holiday, most Mercadona locations will operate on a reduced schedule from 9:00 to 15:00. Other chains, including ALDI, Lidl, and DIA, are also maintaining variable opening hours across Catalonia and other regions to accommodate summer travelers.
