Retailers expand presence in German Ruhr region shopping centers

Retail developments are progressing across shopping centers in Germany's Ruhr region. At the Rhein-Ruhr Zentrum in Mülheim, a new phase of transformation has begun following the handover of spaces to key anchor tenants. Kaufland will occupy approximately 4,500 square meters for a consumer market, while Müller will take up 2,400 square meters to offer cosmetics, stationery, and toys. Additionally, McFIT will renovate its designated area to provide fitness and leisure services.

In Recklinghausen, the Palais Vest shopping center has announced that the supermarket Pochet will open a flagship store in December 2026. The new location aims to differentiate itself through a unique service concept that includes paid childcare, which parents can book via an app. This move fills a large vacant space in the center's basement previously occupied by Kaufland.
