Retail sales in Brazil expected to grow during Customer Day week
Retailers in Brazil are preparing for Customer Day on September 15, a date increasingly viewed as a strategic precursor to Black Friday. Projections from Getnet suggest an 8% growth in sales during the week of September 13–19, 2026, with the food wholesale and supermarket sectors expected to lead with an 18% increase.
Regarding payment methods, Pix transactions are projected to rise by 33% compared to the previous year, though credit cards remain the preferred choice due to installment options and cashback benefits. In Rio de Janeiro, ASSERJ reports that 56.3% of consumers are primarily motivated by promotions, with many using social media and WhatsApp to find deals.
Small businesses are being encouraged by Sebrae to use the date as a laboratory to test sales strategies, staff training, and pricing models before the high-demand period in November. Data from Nuvemshop highlights the scale of such events, noting that the 2025 Customer Week generated R$ 136 million in e-commerce sales.
