Retailers in Slovakia implement new store concepts and private label strategies
Retailers in Slovakia are implementing various strategies to enhance customer experience and value. Kaufland reports a significant rise in the popularity of private labels, which customers choose for both quality and cost-effectiveness. Approximately one-quarter of the products sold by Kaufland in 2025 are expected to be private labels. Their flagship brand, K-Classic, has been on the market since 2003 and includes around 1,700 food items.
Simultaneously, Lidl is rolling out a modern store concept in Slovakia to improve shopping comfort. The first renovated location is in Bratislava on Račianska Street, featuring a brighter interior, LED lighting, and a more intuitive layout. The new design includes six structured non-food thematic zones, such as kitchen, garden, and fashion, to help customers navigate the assortment more easily. This follows other recent innovations like Scan & Go and digital receipts.
