Retailers prepare for seasonal sales amid currency and pricing shifts
Retailers are preparing for seasonal discount events, including White Friday and Black Friday, as the holiday shopping season begins.
In Egypt, merchants are monitoring the impact of the US dollar exchange rate on the pricing of clothing and home appliances. Samah Haikal of the Chamber of Commerce Garments Division noted that current clothing prices have not been directly affected by recent currency fluctuations, as many products were manufactured or imported approximately six months ago. While exchange rate rises could influence future production costs, current retail prices remain linked to previous import cycles. The Consumer Protection Agency has issued regulations for the season to prevent misleading discounts and illusory offers.
In the United States, consumer trends indicate significant savings are expected across various categories, including kitchen appliances, major appliances, and electronics such as televisions and tablets. Experts suggest shoppers compare multiple retailers for better shipping costs and in-store pickup options. While Black Friday remains a major event, discounts are expected to extend through Cyber Monday and into early December.
