Ulta Beauty beats Q2 estimates and raises full-year guidance

Ulta Beauty reported second-quarter results that exceeded Wall Street expectations for both revenue and earnings. Net sales rose 8.9 percent to approximately $3 billion, driven by comparable sales growth, the acquisition of British retailer Space NK, and new store openings. Diluted earnings per share increased 13.3 percent to $6.55, surpassing analyst estimates.

Following these results, the company raised its full-year guidance for net sales growth, operating income, and earnings per share. CEO Kecia Steelman noted that the company is continuing its international expansion, with 12 stores currently in Mexico and ongoing franchise developments in the Middle East through partner Alshaya.

Despite the financial beat and raised forecasts, Ulta Beauty shares experienced a decline following the announcement. Analysts have noted a mix of optimism regarding the company’s growth strategy and concerns regarding muted traffic growth and increased promotional activity.
