Rethymno hotel employee arrested in €38,000 jewelry theft

Police in Rethymno, Crete, arrested a 24‑year‑old hotel employee suspected of stealing jewelry from the rooms of foreign tourists. The thefts, dated June 16 and a later incident, involved items valued at about €10,000 and €28,000 respectively, totaling roughly €38,000.

During a search of the suspect’s home, officers seized the stolen jewelry along with additional pieces of unknown origin for further investigation. The case is being handled by the Rethymno Sub‑Directorate for Crime Investigation and remains under active inquiry.
