Rethymno Metropolitan Cathedral undergoes renovation

Renovation works are progressing rapidly at the Metropolitan Cathedral of the Entry of the Theotokos in Rethymno. The project aims to complete the restoration in time for the cathedral's reopening and official ceremony on November 20, 2026.

Interior works are being carried out using local resources and the practical support of community members. Simultaneously, exterior work has commenced, including the replacement of roof tiles. These external improvements are being funded by the Region of Crete – Rethymno Regional Unit. The Holy Metropolis of Rethymno and Avlopotamos has expressed gratitude to both the local contributors and the regional authorities for their support in returning the historic cathedral to religious service.
