Rethymno parents raise fire safety concerns at Perivolia Indoor Stadium
Parents of children who train at the Perivolia Indoor Stadium in Rethymno have issued a public letter expressing intense concern regarding safety conditions at the facility. The outcry follows a recent official match that had to be held behind closed doors because the stadium lacks a renewed fire safety certificate.
The parents have raised several critical issues, including the fact that three out of four emergency exits were found locked despite having 'EXIT' signage. They also questioned the maintenance of fire extinguishers, the visibility of evacuation plans, and the legality of the facility's daily operations.
Through their letter, the group is demanding immediate inspections and a clear timeline from the Municipality of Rethymno to address these deficiencies and ensure the safety of athletes and spectators.
