Rethymno school violence: Student in Golden Dawn attire attacks peers

A serious incident of violence occurred at a school complex in Rethymno, Greece, involving a student wearing clothing associated with the banned organization Golden Dawn. According to reports from the local teachers' union, ELME Rethymno, the student verbally threatened peers in a shared courtyard, reportedly stating, “I will find you outside and break your bones.”

The situation escalated into physical violence when the student, accompanied by several classmates, threw bottles at students from a neighboring school. One student sustained a head injury during the attack.

Both ELME Rethymno and the Rethymno Municipality Parents Association have issued statements condemning the incident. They characterized the event as having a dual nature: a case of school bullying and physical violence, and an act of fascist propaganda. The organizations are calling for strict disciplinary and preventive measures to be implemented by the authorities to ensure school safety and to prevent the spread of extremist ideologies within educational environments.
