Retired Customs Officer shot dead in Bihar's Bhojpur district
Ram Kumar Singh, a 71-year-old retired Assistant Commissioner of the Customs Department, was shot dead by armed assailants in the Kanakpuri locality of Ara, Bihar, on Thursday morning. The attack occurred near the eastern gate of Jain College as Singh was preparing for his daily morning walk.
Reports indicate that Singh was struck by multiple bullets at close range. Despite being rushed to Ara Sadar Hospital by local residents, he succumbed to his injuries en route. The attackers fled the scene immediately following the shooting.
Police, including teams from the District Intelligence Unit and Forensic Science Laboratory, have launched an investigation. While investigators are reviewing CCTV footage and questioning witnesses to identify the suspects, a land dispute is suspected to be a potential motive. Singh was a prominent figure in several social and community organizations, including the Shahabad Kshatriya Mahasabha and the Ara Nagar Ramlila Samiti Trust.
