Retired KC-10 Extender tankers re-enter service
Retired KC-10 Extender tankers are being reactivated for new roles following their retirement from the U.S. Air Force. Omega Aerial Refueling Services has acquired a KC-10A from the Davis-Monthan Air Force Base boneyard to expand its commercial aerial refueling capabilities.
Additionally, the U.S. Air Force is conducting market research via a Request for Information to identify industry sources capable of returning up to four mothballed KC-10 aircraft to service. This effort is intended to support a potential transfer of aircraft to a partner nation in North Africa through the Excess Defense Articles program. The process would involve regeneration, depot-level maintenance, and operational training to facilitate the transfer.
