Retired military officer found dead in Campo Grande

A retired lieutenant colonel from the Mato Grosso do Sul Military Police (PMMS) was found dead on Sunday morning in the Vila Novo Horizonte region of Campo Grande. The body was discovered near Avenida Tamandaré with a gunshot wound to the chest.

Witnesses reported hearing a loud noise, which they initially mistook for a motorcycle, shortly before the body was found. A weapon and a letter were located near the deceased. Authorities have not yet released the contents of the letter or the specific identity of the officer, and investigations are ongoing to determine the exact circumstances and whether other individuals were involved.

The officer was under investigation following allegations of sexual crimes against children and adolescents. These accusations, which became public in August, included reports of abuse occurring between the ages of 9 and 13. Investigators are working to determine if there is a connection between these pending allegations and the circumstances of the death.
