Retired police officer arrested in Madhya Pradesh for alleged sexual assault

A retired police officer, KK Verma, has been arrested in Bhopal following allegations of sexual assault in the Pandhurna district of Madhya Pradesh. A 31-year-old woman filed a complaint alleging that Verma used the pretext of marriage to establish physical relations with her between 2017 and 2023.

The complainant stated that the interactions began in 2017 while Verma was serving as the SDOP in Sersar and was investigating a case involving her family. She further alleged that the accused used threats of violence against her and her family to maintain the relationship and that the abuse continued even after his transfers to Seoni and Bhopal.

Following the woman's refusal to continue the relationship after his retirement, she filed a formal complaint. Police have registered a case under various sections, including rape, criminal intimidation, and the SC/ST Act, and have taken the accused into custody.
