Retired teachers honored during Teachers' Day celebrations in India

Various initiatives were held in India to honor retired educators on Teachers' Day. In Assam, Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya participated in the ‘Governor Assam Varishtha Shikshak Samman’ initiative. As part of this program, the Governor felicitated 95-year-old Prafulla Kumar Borthakur, the senior-most retired primary school teacher in the Sonitpur district, at his residence in Jamugurihat. Borthakur received a citation, traditional items including an Eri shawl and xorai, and a cheque for Rs 51,000.

In Jawla Bazaar, the ‘Fit For Life’ group organized a ceremony at Indira Gandhi Kanya Vidyalaya to honor retired employees of the Barashiv Hanuman Gramin Shikshan Prasarak Mandal and other local retired teachers. The event was attended by various officials, including Murlidhar Anna Mule and Munir Patel, to recognize the social contributions of long-serving educators.
