Retro footwear trends return to fashion prominence

Fashion trends are seeing a resurgence of classic footwear styles, specifically platform sandals and ballet flats.

Platform sandals, which gained popularity in the 1970s disco era and were later embraced by fashion icons in the 2000s, are returning due to their combination of comfort, versatility, and height. Modern styling suggestions include pairing them with flowing fabrics like wide-leg trousers to balance the heavy sole, or wearing them with mini and midi lengths to highlight the retro-modern silhouette.

Similarly, ballet flats are reappearing in contemporary collections. This comeback is driven by the shoe's practicality and ease of styling. Current iterations offer various shapes, including pointed, rounded, and square toes, as well as designs that mimic athletic sneakers. Modern versions often incorporate updated materials, textures, and details such as straps or transparency to adapt vintage aesthetics to current fashion needs.
