Retro gaming updates: New shoot 'em up releases for Neo Geo and Amiga

The retro gaming community is seeing new developments in classic shoot 'em up titles for legacy hardware. Nalua Studio is developing ‘Gley Lancer: Overdrive’, a reimagined version of the 1992 classic ‘Advanced Busterhawk Gley Lancer’. This new project is designed for Neo Geo (AES and MVS) and modern platforms, featuring redesigned pixel art, new mechanics, and 11 reinterpreted stages. The story follows pilot Lucia Cabrock in a horizontal scrolling shooter set in the year 2025.

Separately, developer JOTD has released ‘Commando AGA Edition’ for the Amiga AGA architecture (Amiga 1200 and 4000). This version of Capcom’s 1983 vertical shooter utilizes a custom Z80 to 68000 binary converter to achieve a faithful arcade experience. The port includes enhanced audio by IM76 to replicate original arcade tracks and sound effects using multiple audio channels.
