Retro technology resurgence sees rise in digital camera and MP3 player use

A resurgence of retro technology is being observed as consumers increasingly return to older devices such as digital cameras, wired headphones, and MP3 players. According to data from eBay, sales of iPods and Walkmans in the United Kingdom rose by nearly 50% in 2025, while searches for the iPod mini grew by 48% over the last year.

Market research indicates there are currently 42 million active camera users worldwide. Notably, more than one-third of these users are between the ages of 18 and 30, a demographic heavily influenced by social media trends. Users have expressed that older digital cameras can capture a specific quality that modern smartphones struggle to replicate.
