Reus begins renaturalization of Barranc del Cementiri

The Reus City Council has launched renaturalization works on a 5,982-square-meter plot located in the DINA industrial estate, between the TV-7211 road and Cervera and Tàrrega streets. The project aims to restore environmental values, enhance biodiversity, and improve landscape integration to increase urban resilience against climate change.

Initial phases involve land clearing, maintenance of existing trees, and the removal of invasive plant species. Subsequent stages will include leveling the area, installing an irrigation system, and revegetation. The plan includes planting more than 300 shrubs from eight different species and 34 trees from nine species, alongside sowing a low-maintenance rustic grass mixture.

The project has a total budget of 33,414.02 euros, including VAT. It is funded by the Diputació de Tarragona through the Pla ImpulsDipta, which is contributing 30,000 euros. The works were awarded to Jarditec Serveis Enginyeria del Paisatge SL, with technical coordination provided by Limonium SL.
