Reus City Council defends Doctor Robert Street bollard installation

The Reus City Council has defended the implementation of a retractable bollard on Doctor Robert Street following three recent accidents. According to a technical report, the installation was intended to mitigate road safety risks on a street that handles over 10,000 vehicles daily.

Local authorities stated that the drivers involved in the accidents were not authorized to pass through the area and had taken advantage of the bollard being lowered for other accredited vehicles. To improve safety and assist with the transition to new traffic patterns, the council has implemented additional measures, including reinforced traffic lights, physical speed reducers, longitudinal road markings, and acoustic signals.
