Reus completes remodeling of Carrer Ample and Plaça del Pintor Fortuny
The city of Reus has finalized major urban remodeling works on Carrer Ample and Plaça del Pintor Fortuny. The project, which aimed to prioritize pedestrian mobility and sustainable transit over vehicular traffic, involved the installation of new street furniture, flowerbeds, and retractable bollards to regulate vehicle access.
The renovation, which saw its budget increase to nearly 2.8 million euros due to modifications, also includes a commemorative plaque for Antoni Gaudí to mark the centenary of the Reus-born architect's death. The project seeks to connect Carrer Ample with the city's primary commercial axes, including Llovera, Prim, and Monterols.
To celebrate the completion of the works, local businesses organized the second edition of the ‘Anem a l’Ample’ festival on October 29. The event, coordinated by the local commerce association El Tomb de Reus, features workshops, live music, and gastronomic offerings to encourage citizens to rediscover the renovated space.
