Reus farmhouse homicide: Court maintains detention of suspect

The Provincial Court of Tarragona has upheld the preventive detention of an individual accused of participating in a violent crime at a farmhouse in the Mas Carpa area of Reus. The incident occurred in May, following an emergency call regarding a fight.

Upon arrival, Mossos d’Esquadra officers discovered a man's body showing signs of extreme brutality. The investigation was complicated by the presence of pepper spray at the scene, which hindered visibility for emergency teams. Two other men were found injured near the property: a 79-year-old with facial and head contusions, and a 46-year-old suffering from a stab wound.

Authorities had previously been investigating a third suspect who fled the scene before police arrival. This individual was apprehended on May 21. The court noted a solid basis to classify the events as homicide, citing evidence of participation and a flight risk.
