Reuters and AP demand explanation from Israel over Gaza hospital attack

Reuters and the Associated Press (AP) have issued a joint demand to the Israeli government for a “complete explanation” regarding an attack on Nasser Hospital in Khan Yunis, southern Gaza. The incident, which occurred in August 2025, resulted in approximately twenty deaths, including five journalists.

The news agencies identified the deceased journalists as Reuters cameraman Hussam al Masri, photojournalist Mariam Dagga (working for AP and other outlets), and independent journalist Moaz Abú Taha. The agencies stated that the information provided by authorities thus far has failed to offer the “clear answers and accountability” required for an incident of such gravity.

In the same communication, Reuters also noted it is still seeking answers regarding the death of photojournalist Issam Abdallah, who was killed by an Israeli tank attack in southern Lebanon on October 13, 2023. The agencies urged the Israeli government to protect those covering the conflict.
