Revanth Reddy pitches Rahul Gandhi for Prime Minister

Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has advocated for Rahul Gandhi to become the Prime Minister of India, describing his leadership as a ‘historical necessity’ during a challenging period for the nation.

Speaking at the YS Rajasekhara Reddy Awards 2026 ceremony in New Delhi, Reddy stated that appointing Gandhi as Prime Minister would serve as a true tribute to the late YS Rajasekhara Reddy (YSR). He claimed that after taking his second oath as Chief Minister, YSR expressed a life goal of seeing Gandhi lead the country, a wish that remained unfulfilled due to YSR's passing.

Reddy urged Congress party workers and leaders to unite under the direction of party president Mallikarjun Kharge to achieve this goal in upcoming elections. Additionally, the ceremony included the presentation of the Dr YS Rajasekhara Reddy Award 2026 to the M S Swaminathan Research Foundation (MSSRF).
