The Columbia Shuswap Regional District (CSRD) has denied a third reading for the Mars Creek Wilderness Lodge proposal, effectively halting plans by Selkirk Tangiers Heli Skiing (STHS) to develop a large-scale resort north of Revelstoke.

The proposed development involved rezoning 65 hectares of rural land at Mars Creek into a commercial resort lot. If approved, the all-season lakefront lodge would have featured 100 guest units, 50 staff units, a spa, wellness centre, dining facilities, and a 10-berth marina. The project also aimed to support various outdoor activities, including cross-country skiing, snowmobiling, and kayaking.

STHS intended the lodge to provide faster access to its backcountry tenure in the Columbia Mountains while potentially reducing helicopter air traffic congestion in the Revelstoke area. Despite passing initial readings in 2024 and early 2025, the proposal faced public opposition, leading to the current rejection of the zoning and official community plan amendments.
