Revier Therapeutics raises €6M for cardiometabolic drug development
Heidelberg-based Revier Therapeutics has secured €6 million in seed financing to develop a novel approach for treating cardiometabolic diseases. The funding round was led by the KHAN Technology Transfer Fund II, with participation from High-Tech Gründerfonds, VORNvc, and private investors via Revier Invest Heidelberg.
The company aims to develop selective class IIa histone deacetylase (HDAC) inhibitors. Unlike earlier, broader inhibitors that caused dose-limiting toxicities, Revier’s small molecules are designed to target disease-associated enzymatic activity while preserving other essential biological functions.
Revier’s preclinical pipeline includes two primary programs: one targeting heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF) and another focusing on atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD). The company’s research is built upon cardiovascular studies led by scientific founder Johannes Backs at Heidelberg University.
