Revised Lectionary B approved for Dutch Church Province
The revised edition of the Sunday Lectionary for Year B has been approved by the Dicastery for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments in Rome. This new edition will replace the version used since 1969 within the Dutch Church Province.
The Dutch Bishops' Conference has decreed that the new Lectionary B may be used in liturgy starting from the first Sunday of Advent on November 29, 2026. Its use will become mandatory as of February 14, 2027, the first Sunday of Lent.
This edition focuses on the Gospel of Mark, with the translation adjusted to reflect the evangelist's direct and concise writing style. Due to the brevity of the Gospel of Mark, some Sunday readings will include passages from the Gospel of John. The National Council for Liturgy will facilitate orders through its webshop, and a popular edition along with a separate brochure for Passion readings will also be released.
