Revolut launches AI research division to develop proprietary financial models
Fintech company Revolut has announced the launch of Revolut Research, a dedicated artificial intelligence division within its broader AI Department. The unit is designed to develop proprietary machine learning architectures and collaborate with academic and technological institutions to build a unified intelligence layer for the company’s financial services.
A central component of this initiative is PRAGMA, a proprietary foundation model developed in partnership with NVIDIA. Designed to decode complex financial behaviors, PRAGMA is intended to power real-time risk assessment, fraud detection, platform operations, and personalized product recommendations. Revolut aims to embed this native intelligence directly into its core financial engine rather than relying on third-party software wrappers.
Early testing of the PRAGMA model using historical data has yielded significant performance improvements over legacy systems. Revolut reported that the model achieved 2.3 times higher accuracy in identifying credit default risks, detected 65% more fraud cases, and increased the relevance of product recommendations by 41%. The research division will leverage data from Revolut’s global operations, which serves over 80 million customers across more than 40 markets.
