Revolut secures banking license in Colombia

Revolut has obtained a banking license from the Superintendencia Financiera de Colombia (SFC), marking the final regulatory requirement before its commercial launch in the country. This authorization allows the fintech firm to operate as a regulated bank in Colombia, where approximately 200,000 users are already on a waiting list.

This acquisition brings Revolut’s total number of full banking licenses to six, joining existing licenses held in the United Kingdom, France, Australia, Lithuania, and Mexico. The expansion follows a record-breaking year for the company; according to its 2025 Annual Report, Revolut recorded $6 billion in revenue—a 46% year-on-year increase—and pre-tax profits of $2.3 billion.

Diego Caicedo, CEO of Revolut Colombia, stated that the company aims to connect Colombia to the global economy by simplifying remittances and access to financial products. Customer deposits in Colombia will be protected under the local regulatory framework by Fogafín.
