Revolut secures crypto license in Gibraltar for global expansion
Revolut has been granted a Distributed Ledger Technology (DLT) provider license by the Gibraltar Financial Services Commission (GFSC) for its new subsidiary, Revolut Global Digital Assets Limited.
This license is intended to support the neobank’s cryptocurrency expansion outside of the United Kingdom and the European Economic Area (EEA). Revolut currently manages its crypto services through three distinct regional entities: Revolut Ltd for the UK, Revolut Digital Assets Europe Ltd for the EEA under MiCA regulations, and the new Gibraltar-based entity for the rest of the world.
Emil Urmashin, Revolut’s General Manager of Crypto and New Bets, stated that the authorization reflects the company’s commitment to high regulatory compliance standards. Gibraltar Chief Minister Fabian Picardo welcomed the fintech firm, noting that the jurisdiction’s established regulatory framework for digital assets makes it a hub for innovation.
