Revolut users in Hungary report unexpected transaction reversals

Hungarian users of the fintech platform Revolut have reported a technical error involving the unexpected reversal of previous purchases. On the morning of October 8, multiple customers received notifications that past transactions had been canceled and the funds returned to their accounts.

The issue appears to affect a wide variety of independent merchants rather than a single retailer. Reported affected businesses include Penny, Rossmann, Lidl, dm, and Nemzeti Dohánybolt. The error has impacted users across different card networks, including Visa, Mastercard, and Maestro.

Revolut’s system status page currently indicates that all services are functioning normally, and the company has not issued an official statement regarding the cause of the glitch. Experts advise users not to spend the returned funds, as the technical error may result in the bank re-deducting the amounts once the transactions are properly reconciled.
