Revolution Wind completes turbine installation in US
The Revolution Wind offshore wind farm has completed turbine construction, installing its 65th and final turbine. The $6.2 billion project, located in Rhode Island Sound, is expected to reach full commercial operation later this year.
Developed by a joint venture between Ørsted and Skyborn Renewables, the farm has a total capacity of 704 megawatts. It is designed to provide 400 megawatts to Rhode Island and 304 megawatts to Connecticut, enough to power approximately 350,000 homes. The project has been delivering power to the grid at partial output since March.
The construction reached this milestone despite legal and regulatory challenges. The Trump administration had issued two stop-work orders against the project, citing national security concerns. One order in August 2025 was subsequently overturned by a federal judge, allowing construction to proceed.
