The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Navy announced it struck the Togo-flagged oil tanker 'Trend' in the Strait of Hormuz. The IRGC claimed the vessel was attempting an illegal transit after being 'deceived and provoked' by the United States military. The strike caused a fire on board, which immobilized the tanker.

The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) reported a security incident approximately 16 nautical miles northeast of Khashab, Oman. While the UKMTO did not specify the vessel, it confirmed that the crew was safe and no environmental damage had been reported.

Maritime traffic through the Strait of Hormuz has seen a significant decline. Data indicates that only three commercial vessels crossed the strait on Wednesday, compared to twelve the previous day and a ten-day average of nearly 17. Industry estimates suggest oil flow through the strait has dropped to between 6 and 9 million barrels per day, down from 20 million barrels per day. Some vessels are reportedly disabling their Automatic Identification Systems (AIS) to avoid detection.
