Revoy EV secures $27 million Series A to launch electric truck dolly

San Francisco‑based Revoy EV, a robotics startup developing a detachable electric dolly for heavy‑duty trucks, announced a $27 million Series A round led by Standard Capital with participation from Doerr Capital, Time Ventures, Y Combinator and Leap Ventures. The funding will be used to build a second‑generation hybrid trailer dolly that fits between a conventional tractor and its trailer, offering up to 250‑322 km of electric range and cutting diesel fuel use and emissions by as much as 85%.

The company already received NHTSA regulatory approval in 2023 and completed a year‑long pilot with Ryder Systems. Revoy plans to begin commercial service later this year, deploying four units along a 200‑mile route in the Pacific Northwest and scaling to dozens of units by 2027. Founder Ian Rust said the model provides “zero money up front… customers pay us by the mile,” while CEO Peter Reinhardt added, “Our technology allows you to compete with diesel at cost.”

Revoy’s approach lets fleets electrify existing diesel tractors without purchasing new battery‑electric trucks, positioning the dolly as a lower‑cost path toward heavy‑duty transport decarbonisation.
