REWE Group advances sustainability goals and launches rapid delivery in Cologne

The REWE Group is advancing its corporate strategy through both sustainability initiatives and new digital delivery services. As part of its long-term environmental goals, the company aims to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050, aligning its climate targets with the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). Key focus areas include improving packaging for over 2,000 private-label products by 2030 and ensuring fresh meat products meet specific welfare standards by 2030.

In terms of service expansion, REWE has launched a rapid delivery service in Cologne in partnership with the platform Wolt. This pilot program utilizes five local REWE markets to fulfill orders for groceries, household goods, and drugstore items, aiming for delivery within one hour. By using existing retail locations as local fulfillment points, the company seeks to meet demand for spontaneous online shopping without the need for dedicated delivery warehouses.
