REWE recalls smoked cheese slices over plastic contamination in Germany

The retailer REWE has withdrawn a smoked cheese slice product (175 g) after red plastic fragments ranging from 0.5 mm to 10 mm were found in the slices. The cheese, produced by Sales & Service Aktuell GmbH, poses injury and choking hazards.

The recall affects batches with batch numbers 722641, 912641 and 922641 and best‑before dates of 17 Aug 2026, 22 Aug 2026 and 24 Aug 2026. The products were sold in ten German states: Baden‑Württemberg, Bayern, Brandenburg, Hessen, Niedersachsen, Nordrhein‑Westfalen, Rheinland‑Pfalz, Sachsen, Schleswig‑Holstein and Thüringen. Consumers are advised not to consume the cheese and to return it to REWE or discard it. For any injuries, medical attention is recommended.
