Rexel to acquire GCG in US$1.4 billion deal

Rexel has announced a US$1.4 billion acquisition of GCG, a Chicago-based provider of specialty wire, cable, connectivity, and engineered products. GCG is being acquired from Audax Private Equity.

GCG operates 16 locations with approximately 950 employees and is projected to reach over $1.1 billion in revenue by 2026. The company provides advanced services including engineering, custom assembly, and product modification. A significant portion of its revenue is derived from proprietary offerings, with more than 75% incorporating value-added products or services.

The acquisition is intended to expand Rexel’s North American platform and increase its presence in high-growth infrastructure sectors. These include data centers, power and grid infrastructure, communications, defense, and utilities. Rexel CEO Guillaume Texier stated that the move strengthens the company’s position in key segments and moves the firm into higher-value parts of the infrastructure value chain.
