Reynosa activists accuse Mexican federal government of inaction

Activists in Reynosa are accusing the Mexican federal government of inaction regarding local abuses and security issues. Felix Rendon, president of the association ‘Juntos Rescatemos Reynosa’, previously presented documented accusations to President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo during her August visit to the city. Rendon alleged that the Mayor of Reynosa has engaged in abuses during operations at industrial parks, causing economic harm to maquila workers.

Additionally, local mothers searching for missing persons reported a lack of support and instances of intimidation from the Reynosa government. Despite commitments from Interior Secretary Rosa Icela Rodriguez to address these complaints regarding clandestine graves and local government conduct, critics claim no significant action has been taken. The family of Felix Rendon, who is currently in delicate health, has issued an urgent plea to President Sheinbaum to intervene.
